Description

TRi - Balinese Restaurant In Hong Kong (Agung Budi Raharsa as part of Ibuku Team). Located in beach front Southern District the super premium land in Lido Complex, Repulse Bay, Hong Kong, is the most spectacular beach in this region. This cresent-shaped stretch of sand is one of the most beautiful beaches in Hong Kong. TRi Balinese Restaurant in Hong Kong captures the pure essence of Bali in a unique dining experience focused on Balinese flavors and opened in July 2015. TRi has been brought to life by the Le Comptoir team with interior design by Ibuku. The Neighborhood is a sleepy high-end residential community of tall condos and villas set into the hillside above the bay, with some mainland China tourists and some city day-trippers. The development of multiple restaurants and shops in this building will both provide local fine dining and shopping for the areas residents, as well as lure more city people to come for the day or for the evening. The Building extends along the length of the bay. Set on the boardwalk, just steps from the broad white sand beach, it is three stories + roof decks. The Space is third-floor with 40 meters of windows overlooking the beach and the bay through a screen of green foliage and palms. Long rectangular low-ceiling space with the long wall of windows facing west towards sunset. Referring to "Tri Hita Karana" the Balinese philosophy of the union and balance of three elements: Man, Nature, and Divinity. The restaurant space will comfortably fit 90 chairs. Families and couples, lunch and dinner. The long glass windows to be screened with bamboo, and other layers of screen elements to diffuse and dapple the light. The site inspired the theme, the green foliage reminiscent of the nature of Ubud. The Feature. Bamboo Bale Bar: The configuration of the bar and seating echoes the "Bale Bengong" pavilion, where guests perch on the edge of a raised platform bench, leaning against the black bamboo column. The flowers are those offering flowers that you would find cultivated inside the walls of a family compound: cempaka, plumeria, sandat. The bar features cocktails camouflaged as health juices,  tinctures, and remedies. Long Rare Teak Log Table: A 14.5m long communal table extends along the length of windows, made from extraordinary rare teak log that glows with the warmth of the late afternoon sunlight. A mirrored stainless support (designed by Tiger Hallow) raising it to counter-height to reveal the patina of the weathered log. Woven panels and abstract-batik textiles in natural tones echo the scattered light.  Stalks of green bananas, assorted golden coconuts, ginger flowers and sheaths of harvested rice drape from above. As in a Balinese garden, the space is organized and partitioned, reminiscent of fencing. Well tended, though overflowing with the beauty and bounty of nature. Dayak Dragon / Naga: This 200-year old antique ironwood carving is the intact roof ridge from a tribal Dayak long house in Borneo. The finials represent a pair of primordial Naga (dragons) from an animist mythology that is an precursor to the Balinese myths of origins.  It is rare to find the entire 14 meter length intact as in this museum-quality piece, in most cases collectors keep the heads and discard the center length. Sistered Table: In the Private Dining  - This table is comprised of 6 half-cuts of  “bamboo petung” (Dendrocalamus Asper) sliced reveal the smooth hollows of its interior. Each length of bamboo (5 meter) is ‘sistered’ to fit the pole beside it. The hollows can be filled with flowers, grains, sand, pebbles, or other artifacts according to the day or season. A smooth glass panel tops it. The legs are rustic segmental cuts of bamboo. Batik Tjap Wall Feature: In the Private Dining - Copper Tjaps, 50 year old collectible tools made and used for batik textile printing on the island of Java for over a century. Pod on Lotus Pond: Stand free on cool stone of the river banks. Pods scattered among wild and proud groves of bamboo. There is a free natural wildness to this space, a calm river overflows to the sea. Along the far length of windows is a curving, terraced-edge pond overflowing towards the bay. The bamboo stands tall and proud in clusters as if in groves, fully intact in it's natural beautiful form. Complete. Nothing is touched or cultivated here.
