Set within a densely planted site, the house is positioned at the center of a mature garden surrounded by trees. Rather than blending into its natural setting, the architecture is conceived as a distinct object that contrasts with the landscape. The restrained white façade serves as a neutral canvas, allowing sunlight and the shadows of surrounding foliage to animate its surface throughout the day. As night falls, the illuminated façade transforms into a glowing landmark within the garden, giving the house a different architectural expression.The project's primary challenge was the site's dramatic topography. Instead of reshaping the terrain, the design embraces the existing contours to generate a layered spatial experience. Changes in level create a sequence of interconnected spaces, including a sunken living room and a terraced backyard, allowing the architecture to follow the natural landform. Moving through the house becomes a carefully choreographed journey of ascending and descending, where each transition reveals a new spatial character and relationship with the surrounding landscape.Environmental performance was considered from the earliest stages of the design. The position and proportion of openings were carefully planned to maximize natural daylight and cross-ventilation, improving indoor thermal comfort while reducing reliance on artificial lighting and mechanical cooling. The architecture allows changing natural light to become an integral part of the spatial experience throughout the day.Rather than imposing itself on the landscape, the house establishes a dialogue with nature through light, topography, and movement, transforming the challenges of the site into a sequence of connected spaces that balance environmental responsiveness with contemporary living.
