Description

K Boarding House is one of our recent designs, envisioned as a well-ventilated and naturally lit living environment for undergraduate students in Yogyakarta. Located on a corner lot, the project makes use of its two street frontages in different ways: one side accommodates parking, while the other forms the main entrance to the building. Across four floors, K Boarding House accommodates 29 rooms. The design balances the economic requirement of fitting a predefined number of rooms with the need for open spaces that provide natural ventilation, daylight, and areas for rainwater infiltration. The open spaces ade integrated into the building’s organization, bringing air and light deeper into the boarding house while providing a more comfortable living environment for its residents. Aesthetically, the project combines a modernist approach with a mid-century Art Deco-inspired façade, complemented by accent colours at selected areas throughout the building.
