Description

SKYE, a restaurant, bar and lounge is located on the 56th floor of The Menara BCA, Grand Indonesia, in Jakarta spanning 1500 sqm. Skye was designed as an urban resort up in the sky with two distinct personalities of the outdoor lounge area and interior dining space above Jakarta's city skyline. Located on the rooftop of a 56 story building, the element of nature became a concern in the outdoor space, requiring additional consideration in the design process. Built in an existing building, size constrictions regarding transport of materials and furniture were applied. Creating a holistic design whilst with distinct atmospheres for each zone was the biggest challenge in the project. The exterior of the Skye lounge is an outdoor landscape that has been designed to be multifunctional in nature and adapt to visitor's use of the space. The courtyard encased in iron wood flows across the outdoor area, creating sunken seating areas, standing platforms and follows its visitor's use. The outdoor bar and gazebo has been designed to allow guests to enjoy Jakarta's cityscape, where the infinity pool creates the illusion of a limitless view of the surrounding landscape.
