Description

The design of the house is based on the idea of creating an architecture that is site specific and an architecture that belongs to the site. The site is located on a corner lot in hilly part of Semarang. Despite the original house's orientation towards the west, the new house is facing the beautiful view of Semarang city towards the north and the design minimizes facade articulation towards the west to reduce sun exposure. Existing trees are saved in the landscape and further become the early ideas of the spatial arrangement of the house. The house has many large openings that not only brings light and air into the house but also constant relationship with the outdoor that makes the boundary between the inside and outside dissapears. The house uses natural materials such a wood and raw cement to express the integrity and honest personalities of each material making the house modern yet simple and comfortable.
